"8/0 Beaded Fusion 3 Necklace with Porcelain Sunflower Pendant & Adjustable Closure - TLC
I call this design the 8/0 “Color-Fusion-3” Kumihimo Beaded Necklace with Porcelain Sunflower Pendant. To achieve the “fusion” of colors, 3 colors of beads are strung in a particular sequence of colors/patterns, in sections, to create a “fused” look.
You will learn: In this kit you will learn the “Half-Knot” method for attaching a pendant (helpful when a Lark’s Head Knot isn’t feasible). You will also learn a variation of the “Starting in the Middle” technique where you will start in the middle (at the pendant) and braid out. This is a fun necklace to make and these are techniques you can adapt to your own projects.
The beaded length is approximately 18” with another 6” on either end for adjustability. The finished necklace can be worn as short as 18”, plus or minus, and as long as up to 30”.
You will need: Kumihimo Disk (I recommend the BeadSmith Thick Mini), 8 bobbins, tape measure, scissors. You should know: Kumihimo Round Braid (Kongoh-Gumi) and how to “drop” beads. If you need a braiding with beads refresher check out Kumihimo Tip #14. While the instructions are written for a disk, they are easily adaptable to the Marudai.
