"*8-Strand Kongoh Gumi Edgy Cluster Bead Necklace Kit" - Holiday

$ 16.00

Description:

I call this necklace the “Edgy Cluster Bead Necklace” because the design of this necklace is a combination of the Edge Bead Necklace and the Cluster Bead Necklace! It’s a quick project with a great look and lots of appeal.

The braid structure is an 8-strand Kongoh Gumi displaying a "Double Wide Zig Zag"pattern with 11 clusters of beads. The "clusters" of beads lie on the "edges" of the braid, hence the name "Edgy Cluster Bead Necklace"! The style of this necklace is well suited for shorter lengths however I have provided enough material in the kit to make up to a 20” necklace; my preference is closer to 17”. Finished lengths include end caps & closure. The instructions are written for the longest length (approximately 20”) but you can easily adjust the size to any length simply by choosing where you want to finish & trim the end sections. You could opt for a longer necklace by purchasing additional satin and beads. You can also make bracelets using the same technique. You will need: Kumihimo Disk (I prefer the mini in the standard thickness), 8 Bobbins, Scissors, Tape Measure, Needle and Thread of Fray Block to finish the ends, Glue (like Weldbond). You should know: Kumihimo Round Braid (Kongoh Gumi) and how to drop beads. For tips on threading beads on satin cord and dropping beads, check out Kumihimo Tips #10 & #14.

Kit includes:

  • Petite Satin Cord (10 yards)
  • 1 pkg 6/0 Toho or Miyuki Seed Beads
